A Refreshing Start to the College Life for the Freshers 

One thing every fresher would be excited about once they get into IIMS College is the socialization programme. Here, freshers get to travel, bond with new friends, and embark on a thrilling adventure that sets the tone for their college life.On 14th and 15th November 2024, IIMS College hosted the Socialization Programme for BCS and BIHM Intake at Trishuli Riverside Resort. It was a time of endless fun, meaningful connections, plenty of learning, and unforgettable memories.

IIMS Socialization Programme 2024 – Day 1: Activities, Challenges and Entertainment

• Arrival and Excitement:

Getting off the bus, waiting for our rooms and tents to be assigned to us, the excitement was evident. As we captured these moments, little did we know that this was the start of an incredible journey.

• Team Building and Challenges:

Moving on, we were divided into groups, and were ready to take on the challenges. These activities were designed to foster teamwork, communication, and leadership skills. We engaged in varying activities, from strategic card games, meticulous straw games, and creative blindfold challenges to the exhilarating physical tug-of-war. Moreover, the competitive spirit added an extra layer of fun to the experience. Finally, the moment the winning teams were declared, the air was filled with loud cheers and applause. Winning never felt this fulfilling.

• A Night of Dance and Music:

As the sun set, the energy shifted to the dance floor. The beats of the music filled the air, and we danced the night away, creating unforgettable memories. Just look at those pictures—pure bliss captured in every frame!

IIMS Socialization Programme 2024 – Day 2: Adventure Awaits

• Thrills of Rafting:

Next, the day began with an adrenaline-pumping white-water rafting adventure. As we prepared for the rafting adventure, a mix of emotions filled the air. Some were nervous, their hearts pounding with anticipation, while others couldn’t contain their excitement, eager to feel the rush of the rapids. But as we set off, the serene beauty of the river, the lush green hills, and the warm sunlight calmed our nerves. Lastly, simple moments, like high-fiving our paddles after a successful rapid or singing together on the river, will forever warm our hearts.

A Memorable Experience

Overall, the Socialization Programme 2024 was more than just a refreshing getaway; it was a transformative experience. It was a time to build lifelong friendships, learn valuable lessons, and create memories that will last a lifetime.

As we bid farewell to the Trishuli Riverside Resort, we carried with us the spirit of adventure, teamwork, and friendship. This experience has undoubtedly set the floor for a successful and fulfilling college journey.

IIMS Group, in collaboration with SkillLab, organized the IIMS Bizhub Orientation Session on Monday, July 18, 2022, at Hotel Royal Singi, Kamaladi from 10:00 am onwards. The orientation session was held to formally introduce the selected participants to the months-long dedicated incubation program, i.e., IIMS Bizhub, and prepare them for the next stage i.e. 6 Modules of Bootcamp.

IIMS Bizhub is an academic incubation space to assist budding entrepreneurs in their start-up journey and guide them to transform their business ideas into reality. There were a total of 37 selected participants present for the IIMS Bizhub orientation session. This session can be divided into two halves which are elaborated on below.

The first half of the session covered the overview of what the 6 modules of Bootcamp look like. After completing registration and breakfast, the participants entered the hall with the Bizhub file book that contained the contract, objectives, and a notebook. The session was then formally inaugurated by playing the national anthem. The CEO of the IIMS group, Mr. Sabindra Maharjan, welcomed the facilitator, Mr. Shirijung Hang Rai, Innovation and Strategy Manager, from Skill Lab with Khada. Subsequently, the facilitator took over the session with a grand shoutout, IIMS BIZHUB, together with the participants. Likewise, the participants also signed the contract of the incubation program, IIMS Bizhub.

The facilitator thoroughly presented each module and students reflected on each with examples. As the facilitator touched on various topics, a group activity took place highlighting the third module of the Bootcamp, i.e., product development. The participants were divided into random groups and they had to curate a dress from newspapers. While the participants brainstormed and designed their dresses, this turned out to be a fun space as any one participant from each group had to put on the clothing piece that their respective groups prepared. They performed a runway fashion show as well and introduced their products to everyone. Bidding took place, and a short pitching session was also held.

The second half of the session was about the entrepreneurial journey of the distinguished entrepreneurs for the day. There were three entrepreneurs, Ms. Shailaja Kasaju, CEO of Tekka, Ms. Anjana Malla, Co-Founder of Deego Nepal and Mr. Bijendra Shah, Co-Founder of Daaqi. All three entrepreneurs shared their entrepreneurial stories and the journey of how they built their enterprises. It was a motivating session as the participants learned about the various things an entrepreneur can face. Following this session, the CEO awarded a token of love to all the distinguished entrepreneurs.

The speech from the CEO of the IIMS Group regarding his entrepreneurial journey would be one of the highlights of the session. He spoke about the journey and the growth of IIMS from 2010 up until the inception of the incubation program, IIMS Bizhub. Furthermore, he announced that IIMS Bizhub would be established as a club. Eventually, the executive member board selection also took place.

The orientation session was conducted successfully with the active engagement of the participants. The session enlightened the selected participants about the entrepreneurial journey, which will take place throughout the IIMS Bizhub program and beyond. Likewise, with the initiation of IIMS Bizhub as a club and the steps ahead of this session, it will definitely be an opportunity for the participants to tap their potential to a greater extent.

IIMS College takes off to a refreshing start for newly enrolled students of 2022 intake across all the faculties with IIMS Socialization Program which is aimed at providing orientation and recreation to the newly enrolled students of all the faculties. It is a 2 days and 1 night programme that takes place at Trishuli Riverside Resort. The main objective of the programme is to create a bond among batchmates and help them get to know each other. .

The Socialization Programme took place in three batches, with BCS faculty on 14th & 15th December 2022, MCS and MBA faculties on 17th & 18th December 2022, and BBA and BIHM faculties on 29th & 30th December 2022. The programme included skill workshops, adventure activities such as rafting and ziplining, fun music and entertainment. A total of more than 470 students participated in the Socialization Programme, with 130 boys and 70 girls in the BCS batch,  45 boys and 67 girls in the MBA batch, 12 boys and 6 girls in the MCS batch, 32 boys and 61 girls in the BBA batch, and 30 boys and 18 girls in the BIHM batch.

The programme was facilitated by a team of resource persons, with reputed individuals from different industry sectors and talented members of college’s clubs, IIMS Toastmasters Club and IIMS Bizhub Club. The team include Mr. Sachin Pradhan, Mr. Ajay Regmi, Dr. Chintamani Gautam, Ms. Punam Baniya, Ms. Nuri Fatima, Mr. Nobel Shrestha, Ms. Anupa Shrestha, Ms. Varsha Agrawal, Ms. Deepika Ojha, Ms. Niruta Kumal, Mr. Prajwal Gharti Magar, Mr. Kaushal Dawadi, Ms. Livi Pandey, Ms. Shristi Karki and Mr. Sandip Tiwari.

Along with the fun interactions, refreshment and bondings, the IIMS Socialization Program focused on the improvement of students’ all-round abilities. The program seeked at developing a variety of managerial abilities, including motivation and leadership, problem-solving and conflict resolution, time management and goal setting, mindfulness and wellbeing, team building and teamwork, communication and negotiation skills. The program’s focus on fostering these abilities demonstrates the college’s dedication to giving its students modern education that will help them excel in their future careers.

IIMS Socialization Programme for the 2022 intake aimed at providing a fun approach to learning and an orientation for newly enrolled students. Participants were engaged in entertainment, skill workshops, and adventure activities like rafting and zip-lining, which helped build bonds among students across different faculties. The Socialization Programme was a valuable opportunity for students to learn, grow, and socialize with their peers, all in a single event.

On February 3rd, 2023, IIMS College conducted a Mental and Self-care Awareness session for staffs. The session was hosted by Aditya Dangol, a Clinical Psychologist, and Prashanna Ghimire, Assistant. It was an hour session aimed at providing knowledge on the significance of mental health and the need of self-care among staff members.

A total of 22 staff members  including 3 faculty members were engaged in this session. The session covered a range of topics including work-life balance, stress management, and coping mechanisms. The experts also shared tips on how staff members can prioritize self-care and their mental health in an effective way.

Prioritizing mental health and self-care is critical for overall well-being, especially in challenging work environments.The session was productive in advancing the wellbeing of the college’s staffs and building a healthy work environment.

IIMS College held IIMS Career Workshop on 17th and 19th March, 2023, at Aranya Boutique Hotel with the goal of providing students opportunities for career development and showcasing job openings offered by various companies. Eight businesses, each offering the students exciting job opportunities, attended the event.

The participating companies were Tranquility Spa, Clock B Business Technology, Daraz Nepal, Leapfrog Technology, MAW Enterprises, Investor Friendly CPA, Silver Moon Motors Pvt. Ltd., and Vijay Motors were among the participating businesses. They presented a wide range of job openings in many different industries, including management, marketing, and human resources. The businesses also shared information about their hiring procedure and the qualities they seek in potential employees.

IIMS Career Workshop offered students a comprehensive training program to prepare them for successful careers in the corporate world. With hands-on work simulations and guidance from industry experts, students gained practical experience in essential skills such as teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and leadership. Sessions on LinkedIn Profile, Resume Making and Interview Preparation were provided to the students. The workshop also invited guest speakers from various corporate backgrounds to share real-world experiences and provide valuable advice. It provided students with a fantastic opportunity to network with recruiters and learn first-hand about various businesses and the industries they operate in.

In general, the Career Workshop proved to be a useful tool for students looking to explore their career options and find employment. It is commendable that the college is making an effort to put students in touch with recruiters and give them the resources they need for career development, and such events are crucial in bridging the gap between academia and industry

IIMS College celebrated International Women’s Day with the tagline “A Walk For Equity”. The event aimed to recognize and honor the hardworking and beautiful women in the organization who have contributed to its growth and success. To promote recognition and appreciation, the event featured meaningful activities that engaged everyone.

As a token of appreciation, 28 women employees were gifted hand-made cookies and muffins made by BHM 5th-semester students. Additionally, 10 companies supported the cause of “A Walk for Equity”. They purchased cookies and muffins in large quantities to aid the CDCA – Centre for Disabled Children Association.

Writing appreciation notes for colleagues and acknowledging each women employee of the college added sweetness to the event. The event was filled with lots of laughter and dance. Additionally, the theme “A Walk for Equity” was possible thanks to the support of diverse companies. The companies include IIMS College, Aranya Boutique Hotel, Leapfrog, Inficare, Synergy Tech, Volkswagen, Orchid College, Asian College of Higher Studies, Happy Minds, and Norchhok Boutique Hotel.

Overall, the recognition and appreciation given to the women in the organization, the cookies and delicious treats made by students, and the support of numerous companies, made the “International Women’s Day” occasion a memorable one for everyone.

IIMS College, in collaboration with Taylor’s University, hosted an enlightening and enriching Pedagogy Training program for its esteemed staff and faculty on November 8th and 9th, 2023. The event took place at Aranya Boutique Hotel from 10:00 am onwards and aimed to enhance pedagogical skills and advance the quality of education at IIMS College.

Dr. Lim Chee Leong, Director of Learning Innovation and Development at Taylor’s University, graced the event as a distinguished speaker. Bringing a wealth of knowledge and expertise, Dr. Lim’s session focused on empowering faculties to ensure better development of the students, making them aware of modern learning outcomes, and equipping them with the skills to utilize Chat GPT, Padlet, Slido, and other educational tools effectively.

The training also delved into Bloom’s Taxonomy, criteria for assessment rubrics, methods to increase engagement in classes, and the use of MyTimes for conducting quick quizzes. Participants actively engaged in discussions and practical exercises, gaining valuable insights and practical strategies to enhance their teaching methodologies.

Associate Academic Director of BIHM, Ashwini Lagelu, who attended the training, shared his positive experience, stating, “I got to learn about hotel learning outcomes, Bloom’s Taxonomy, received interactive contents, modern teaching methodologies, best practices of assessments. The session was really effective.”

The Pedagogy Training Session was held at the exquisite Aranya Boutique Hotel, providing a conducive environment for meaningful discussions and professional growth. This event marked a significant step towards IIMS’s commitment to providing its students with the highest quality education.

The moment we entered the Aranya Boutique Hotel, showed our tickets and were escorted to our designated seats, we were transported to an era of elegance and refinement. The classic décor, with its gold accents and crisp white linens, set the atmosphere promising us an experience of fine dining at its finest. We couldn’t help but feel a sense of excitement as we get ready to dive into a culinary adventure highlighting a seamless fusion of culinary expertise from IIMS College, Taylor’s University, and Aranya Boutique Hotel.

On November 7, 2023, a symphony of gastronomic delights unfolded. IIMS College, Taylor’s University, and Aranya Boutique Hotel joined together to present “A Culinary Partnership: Experience Fine Dining Gala Dinner with Wine Pairing”. Held at the exquisite Aranya Boutique Hotel, the event brought together celebrated chefs from France at Taylor’s University, Dr. Joaquim Dias Soeiro and Chef Frederic Cerchi with master chefs from IIMS College, Chef Mahima Shrestha and Aranya Boutique Hotel, Chef Niroj Dangol.

The evening commenced with an elegant ambiance, warm service by the students of IIMS College, and live soulful jazz music playing in the background welcoming over 60+ guests from different corporate houses including lecturers, family, and friends of college staff and students. A culinary spectacle unveiled before the guests, a four-course meal meticulously paired with fine wines, demonstrating a testament to the perfect blend of culinary partnership.

The first course “Appetizer”, a Citrus and Vanilla Salmon Tartare served with Vegetable “firework,” was a visual delight. The dish melted in the mouth, its richness balanced by the vibrant freshness of the vegetable “firework.”

The second course “Soup”, The Traditional Roasted Pumpkin velouté served with Black truffle cloud and Crispy “Mouillette” was a symphony of flavors, also providing a Main course

The main course offered a choice of two equally tempting options: the Grain mustard Braised Pork, served with Garlic Mashed potatoes, Orange and carrot puree, and the Pan seared Pesto Stuffed Chicken breast, Garlic Mashed potatoes, Orange and carrot puree, grain mustard Sauce.

The last course “Dessert” included The Passion of Chocolate, a decadent masterpiece that left a lasting impression. A rich chocolate mousse, layered with a delicate chocolate ganache and topped with a crispy chocolate tuile, was the epitome of indulgence.

As the final course was savored, a sense of contentment washed over the guests. The Seamless Fusion Culinary Extravaganza had been an evening of pure indulgence, a celebration of food, art, and hospitality. For aspiring culinary enthusiasts from IIMS College, the event proved to be an invaluable learning experience, immersing them in the world of haute cuisine and igniting their passion for the culinary arts. The opportunity to observe and interact with renowned chefs from France and Nepal provided them with a rare glimpse into the pinnacle of culinary excellence, inspiring them to pursue their dreams.
