Improving Student Wellbeing at IIMS College: Stress Management Session

Student wellbeing is a top priority. From assignment loads, and college work to other commitments, students juggle their studies and personal life. During such a period when students are focused on self-development and creating a base for their careers, they face loads of stress. Therefore, stress management is highly crucial for students. On that note, on 10th January 2025, a valuable session on Stress Management to improve student wellbeing was held for the BBA 2021 Batch at IIMS College.

Esteemed mental health professionals conducted stress management sessions for our students. They were Angelica Khatri, a counseling psychologist, and Dipesh Tandukar, an industry/organizational psychologist, both co-founders of FHEAL.

The session provided students with invaluable insights on stress, its impact on academic performance, and practical coping mechanisms. The expert speakers also emphasized the importance of recognizing stress triggers, developing healthy coping strategies, and prioritizing self-care.

From January 6th to the end of February, BCS students from the January 2023 and August 2022 intakes undergo an intensive computer science training program on various in-demand computer science skills. This will thus equip our students to stay competitive in today’s rapidly evolving technological landscape.

Part of the HM Course, 14-Week Practical Training Takes Place at Aranya Boutique Hotel

What a dynamic start for IIMS College‘s Bachelor of International Hospitality Management (BIHM) students! From January to April, students are engaging in a comprehensive 14-week practical training program at the renowned Aranya Boutique Hotel as part of their HM Course. Hence, this immersive experience provides invaluable hands-on learning opportunities, allowing students to apply their theoretical knowledge in a real-world setting.

HM Course Practical Training Sessions for Every Semester’s Students Need

The practical training program is especially tailored to the specific needs of each semester. Taking place at the Aranya Boutique Hall premises, it covers areas such as the Kitchen, Restaurant, Conference Hall, Shivapuri Block, and so on. One of the practical sessions is also taking place at the Hattisar Block.  Most importantly, the details of the program for each semester are given below:

1. BIHM 1st & 2nd Semester

  • Culinary Practical focused on kitchen, food, and equipment preparation at the Kitchen (both at the main hotel as well as that of Shivapuri Block) (Monday-Thursday, 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM) 

  • Restaurant Practical focused on F&B services at the Restaurant (Monday-Thursday, 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM)

2. BIHM 2nd Semester

  • Accommodation Management Practical focused on front-of-house operations at the Reception area of the Hattisar Block (Wednesday & Thursday, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM)

3. BIHM 7th Semester

  • Convention and Banquet Sales, focused on learning and practicing how to organize and sell event spaces for conventions, banquets, and similar gatherings (Main Hotel and Shivapuri Block) (Monday & Thursday, 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM)

4. BIHM 9th Semester

  • Holistic Approach to Health and Wellbeing focused on practical yoga sessions conducted at the Conference Hall (7:00 AM – 9:00 AM)

BIHM Students Immerse in the World of Brewing: An Industry Visit to Yak Brewing Company

On November 28th, IIMS College organized an industry visit to the renowned Yak Brewing Company’s Barasinghe Factory for the BIHM students. This was a significant step towards bridging the gap between theory and practice. This immersive experience provided valuable insights into the world of brewing and hospitality for the college’s hospitality management students.

The students had the unique opportunity to witness the entire brewing process firsthand, from the selection of raw materials to the final product. Guided by industry experts, they explored the intricacies of:

  • Understanding the importance of quality ingredients in crafting exceptional beer.
  • Learning about the conversion of starches into sugars, a crucial step in the brewing process.
  • Discovering the role of hops in imparting bitterness, aroma, and flavor to beer.
  • Exploring the magic of yeast in transforming sugary wort into alcohol.
  • Understanding the importance of aging and conditioning in developing the final taste and character of beer.
  • Learning about the various packaging techniques and stringent quality control measures.

“From coming together, and having fun traveling by bus to the factory tour and now chilling with my friends, the entire industry visit experience was awesome. All our friends were also enjoying to the fullest, clicking pictures, filming Tiktoks, even with our teachers, overall we had a nice experience.”, says Shreya Pokhrel. “It was truly a good experience. IIMS College signs MoU with Grepsr

Most importantly, this academia-industry partnership with Grepsr represents a significant milestone for IIMS BCS. On August 15, 2024, IIMS College signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dlytica to establish an academia-industry partnership. The MoU was formally signed in the presence of Ashis Parajuli, Founder/CEO, and Anuja Adhikari, HR Associate from Dlytica. This strategic partnership with Dlytica, a leading data engineering and AI company aims to enhance our students’ academic and professional experiences by providing them with valuable opportunities and industry insights. Moreover, this partnership opens up new opportunities for exciting initiatives that benefit both IIMS BCS and Dlytica.

A Milestone in the Collaboration
