3v3 Basketball Rules for IIMS Khel Utsav 2024

Participation Details:

  1. There are a total of 4 players in the team, 3 on the playing set, and the other 1 remaining will be the substitutes. 
  2. Team members must be present in the ground 30 minutes before the game, failure to do so could result in team forfeiting the game.
  3. Gameplay rules will be explained before the game.
  4. Fair play is the top most priority and incase of any trouble during the game, officials, organizing committee and college management decision will be the final one.
  5. KHEL UTSAV 2024 is open to all the students enrolled at IIMS College only.
  6. Only one Basketball team from each intake will be allowed to participate representing the Batch/ Intake. The participation form signed by the Head of the Department (HOD) will be considered the official team representing the Batch/Intake. 

Basketball Rules and Regulations:

  1. Game Setup: Played on a half-court with one hoop, featuring two teams of three players each, with one substitute allowed per team.
  2. Game Duration: Matches last 10 minutes or until a team scores 21 points, with a continuous clock and a 12-second shot clock.
  3. Scoring: Baskets made inside the arc are worth 1 point, and those made beyond the arc are worth 2 points. Free throws are worth 1 point.
  4. Starting Play: The game begins with a coin toss to determine possession.
  5. Substitutions:can be made freely during dead ball situations, with no limit on the number of substitutions.
  6. Ball in Play: After a made basket, the non-scoring team starts play from under the basket. The ball must be cleared beyond the arc before attempting to score.
  7. Fouls: Personal fouls do not lead to disqualification. Starting with the seventh team foul, all defensive fouls result in two free throws. Offensive fouls do not result in free throws.
  8. Overtime: If the score is tied at the end of regular time, the game goes to overtime, where the first team to score 2 points wins.
  9. Timeouts: Each team is allowed one 30-second timeout per game.
  10. Player Equipment: Teams must wear matching uniforms, and players can wear compression sleeves and other standard basketball gear.
  11. Technical and Unsportsmanlike Fouls: Two unsportsmanlike or technical fouls lead to disqualification.
  12. Check-Ball Exchange: Used to start or resume play from behind the arc after stoppages.
  13. Winning: The team first to reach 21 points within regular game time or lead after 10 minutes wins. In overtime, the first team to score 2 points wins.
  14. Violations: include shot clock violations, traveling, double dribble, goaltending, and out-of-bounds.
  15. Reporting Time:  player should be on stand-by 30 minutes before the call time.
  16. ID-Card: Student ID cards are to be attached to the participation form and also to be brought along for the game for verification.
  17. Final Call: last call will be from match officials in case of any discrepancies or mis-understandings.
