The Project-Based AI Foundation Workshop for the BCS March 2022 intake has officially concluded at IIMS College. This milestone event reflects IIMS College’s unwavering commitment to providing industry-relevant, practical education that empowers students for the future.
Led by experienced AI educator Mr. Jatin Bhusal, the 30-hour workshop ran from May 7 to May 30, 2025, with sessions starting daily at 7:00 AM within the IIMS College premises. The workshop was meticulously designed to intensive offer students a hands-on, project-based learning experience, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world AI applications. Unlike conventional lectures, the workshop adopted a project-based approach, encouraging students to actively apply what they learned through hands-on projects. Pneumonia Detection using Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN)
Students learned how to build and train deep learning models for medical image classification, gaining exposure to AI in healthcare. -
Chatbot Intent Classification using Natural Language Processing (NLP)
This module introduced students to building smart chatbot systems capable of understanding and classifying human intent using NLP techniques. -
Mathematics Behind Neural Networks and Transformers
A deep dive into the mathematical foundations powering modern AI models like Transformers, enabling students to understand the “why” behind the “how.” -
Fine-Tuning Techniques and Research Methodology
Students also explored how to fine-tune pre-trained models and develop research-based approaches to solving AI problems, preparing them for further innovation or academic research.
This workshop not only enhanced students’ technical competencies but also inspired them to think critically and innovatively. Many participants have expressed interest in pursuing further projects or research in AI, demonstrating the lasting impact of the program.
