Shawarma Making Workshop Strengthens Practical Learning

IIMS College successfully conducted a two-day Shawarma Making Workshop for BIHM students, providing an immersive hands-on learning experience focused on real-world culinary skills. Led by Chef Dipak Dhungana from Aloft Hotel, the workshop bridged classroom learning with industry practice.

Throughout the sessions, students learned authentic Shawarma preparation techniques, explored seasoning profiles and gained practical knowledge of professional kitchen management. The workshop encouraged creativity, teamwork and operational understanding, helping students build confidence and industry-ready competencies essential for careers in hospitality.

Putting their learning into practice, the students are now launching Taylor’s Shawarma Corner, a student-led initiative under the Hospitality Project Management module. They have crafted a menu of delicious shawarmas, blending skill, spice and fresh ingredients. This venture allows students to apply their workshop experience in a real-world setting, gaining hands-on entrepreneurial and culinary experience.
