As part of their early learning experience at IIMS College, the BIHM September 2026 Intake students explored some of the essential skills required to build a strong foundation in the hospitality industry. The learning experience focused on two important areas of professional development: customer service excellence and grooming, etiquette, and pleasant personality.
The sessions introduced students to the fundamentals of delivering quality customer service and understanding the importance of creating positive experiences for guests. In hospitality, service goes beyond simply meeting a guest’s needs. It involves effective communication, attentiveness, professionalism, empathy, and the ability to understand and respond to different guest expectations. Through the sessions, students were encouraged to recognise how these qualities contribute to memorable and meaningful hospitality experiences.
The students then participated in a special session on “Grooming, Etiquette, and Pleasant Personality,” led by guest speaker Ms. Rofina Shrestha, Founder of Beautyfix Nepal. The session focused on the importance of professional presentation and personal conduct in the hospitality industry, where employees are often among the first points of interaction for guests.

Drawing from her experience and expertise, Ms. Shrestha shared practical insights into maintaining professional grooming standards, developing appropriate workplace etiquette, and presenting oneself with confidence. The session helped students understand how personal appearance, body language, communication, manners, and overall personality can influence professional interactions and contribute to a positive guest experience.
The combination of customer service training and personal development gave students an opportunity to look at hospitality from both service and professional perspectives. While strong service knowledge helps professionals understand how to meet guest expectations, effective grooming, etiquette, communication, and confidence help them deliver that service with professionalism.
For BIHM September 2026 Intake students, these sessions provided an important introduction to the practical expectations of the hospitality industry. The learning experience encouraged them to develop not only technical and service-related knowledge but also the interpersonal and professional qualities that are essential when working in hotels, restaurants, resorts, airlines, events, and other hospitality environments.
These experiences form an important part of developing well-rounded hospitality professionals who can approach their future roles with knowledge, confidence, professionalism, and a genuine understanding of service excellence.
