While the world was busy celebrating Valentine’s Day with their partners, IIMS College chose to highlight a deeper message, i.e., the importance of self-love. On February 14, 2025, the IIMS Wellbeing Unit organized a heartwarming and vibrant event titled “Be Your Own Valentine”. This event was solely dedicated to celebrating self-worth, positivity, and mindfulness.
Valentine’s Day at IIMS: A Celebration of Self-Love and Joy
As students walked through the gates of IIMS College, beautiful Valentine-themed decorations, soothing music, and warm, welcoming vibes greeted them. Furthermore, the campus was adorned with heart-shaped cutouts, balloons, and colorful artwork. It created the perfect ambiance for a day centered on mental wellbeing and self-appreciation.
Fun-Filled Stalls and Interactive Activities
Moreover, the event featured a series of interactive stalls and booths, offering something for everyone. Students and visitors indulged in:
i. Delicious Treats: Homemade bakery items, sweets, and everyone’s favorite—panipuri.
ii. Creative Gifts: Handmade flower bouquets, crochet keychains, and unique accessories.
iii. Art & Expression:
-
- A canvas wall where participants could freely draw, paint, or express themselves with colors and words.
-
- A mirror booth with heart-shaped sticky notes where individuals wrote letters to themselves, reminding them of their value and strength. There was also a box titled ‘Dear Me, With Love’ where participants wrote heartfelt letters to themselves.
iv. Face & Hand Painting: Adding a playful and artistic flair to the event.
v. Fun Games: Charades, guess-the-word, and paper glass tower challenges kept the energy high and the crowd engaged throughout the day. One particularly meaningful game was the paper glass tower, where negative words were written on the cups, symbolizing the act of breaking down negativity.
Photo Booths & Cherished Memories
Moving on, no celebration is complete without capturing memories! Therefore, the organizers prepared a Valentine-themed photo booth titled “I’m My Own Valentine: Self-Love Edition” with quirky props. This became a hotspot for friends and classmates to click fun and memorable photos. Ultimately, laughter, creativity, and love echoed through the space as students celebrated themselves and each other.
Promoting Mental Wellbeing Through Self-Love
Overall, the IIMS Wellbeing Unit beautifully reminded everyone that self-love is the foundation of all other forms of love. The event did not just provide a fun break from routine. But it also promoted mental health awareness, self-reflection, and a culture of self-care within the student community.
