BBUS September 2026 Students Gain Industry Insights

As part of their learning journey at IIMS College, the BBUS September 2026 Intake students had the opportunity to engage in an inspiring session titled “Continuing the Family Legacy,” featuring Mr. Samir Shakya, Managing Director of International Sound Service (ISS).

The session explored the journey of carrying forward a family business, preserving its vision and values, and adapting it to meet the demands of a changing business environment. Drawing from his experience in leading International Sound Service, Mr. Shakya shared valuable perspectives on the opportunities and responsibilities that come with taking a family enterprise into its next generation.

Through his experiences, students gained insights into the realities of managing and growing a family business while maintaining the foundation established by previous generations. The session highlighted how successful family businesses can evolve over time by embracing new ideas, understanding changing market dynamics, adopting innovation, and remaining connected to the values that shaped their beginnings.

The interaction also encouraged students to think about leadership and succession from a broader perspective. Continuing a family legacy is not simply about maintaining what already exists; it involves understanding the vision behind it, identifying opportunities for growth, making informed decisions, and creating a path for the business to remain relevant in the future.

For the BBUS September 2026 Intake, the session provided an opportunity to connect academic learning with real-world business experiences. Hearing directly from an industry leader allowed students to gain a practical understanding of the challenges, decisions, and perspectives involved in building and sustaining a business across generations.

The session added another valuable dimension to the students’ early college experience, encouraging them to think critically about entrepreneurship, leadership, business continuity, and the role of the next generation in shaping the future of an organisation.
