My Journey of Learning, Growth and Memorable Experiences

Hi, I’m Lajana Maharjan, a sixth-semester student at IIMS College in Naxal-Bhagwatibahal, Kathmandu. I still remember my first day at college, feeling nervous yet excited as I met new classmates and stepped into a place that would soon feel like home. Being a scholarship holder at IIMS has motivated me to work harder, stay focused and make the most of every opportunity during my college journey.

Along with my studies, I work as a Social Media Intern at IIMS College. Balancing both college life and work life has given me a unique experience. It allows me to learn, grow and share the story of my college while also showing others what makes IIMS so special. Through this blog, I want to share my journey at IIMS, a journey filled with learning, growth and memorable experiences that have shaped who I am today.

Stepping into IIMS College feels like becoming part of a family. The environment is warm, friendly and supportive, making it easy for us to feel comfortable and confident. The faculty members and seniors are always ready to guide and encourage us. Through its strong focus on quality education and holistic learning, the college helps us grow not only academically but also as individuals. Group projects, guidance sessions and college events have taught me teamwork, responsibility and the importance of learning together.

Similarly, the work environment at IIMS College is welcoming and positive. As an intern, I have felt supported and respected from the very beginning. Everyone works as a team, helps one another and shares knowledge openly. This friendly atmosphere has helped me learn faster, improve my skills and gain confidence, making my journey easier and more meaningful as I grow alongside people who truly care.

College life isn’t just about studying; it’s also about creating memories that last a lifetime. At IIMS, events, workshops, and celebrations bring everyone together, and I have had the chance to organize and volunteer in events like Fresh Mart, Jolly Christmas, IIMS Holi Blast 9.0 and the Open House Carnival 1.0 and 2.0, making campus life even more exciting.

During Fresh Mart and Jolly Christmas, I was a beginner, but I had the opportunity to lead the marketing department and work closely with my team. It was challenging at first, but it turned into a fun and rewarding experience that helped me grow in confidence, teamwork, and leadership.

For the Open House Carnival 1.0 and 2.0, I volunteered in the stage department. I enjoyed every moment and even got the chance to meet well-known artists like Kuma Sagar and the Khowpa band, Elena Chauhan, Prajina, Rockheads and the band, Kenjal Meher Shrestha and type three and many more. Being part of such a lively and creative environment was truly exciting.

Holi Blast 9.0 has been my most memorable experience so far. Organizing the event with the support of the college and seeing it succeed was incredible. It was a perfect example of teamwork and coordination in action. I also cherish my first-semester dance performance at a college event, a small moment that still brings a smile to my face.

Every event at IIMS gives us the chance to collaborate, learn new skills and create lasting memories, making college life truly special.

At IIMS, learning goes far beyond textbooks. Through workshops, seminars, projects and industry visits, we get hands-on experience that brings knowledge to life. The college encourages us to grow not just academically, but also professionally and personally, preparing us for the challenges ahead.

One field visit that truly stood out was our trip to Thangpal Gaupalika. We conducted research, collected data and interacted with people directly. Meeting the heads of the Gaupalika and municipality was an incredible experience that taught me valuable lessons about community engagement, leadership and practical problem-solving.

In addition to field visits, I attended guest lectures and workshops on topics like Excel, Digital Marketing, and Fashion Integration with AI. These sessions added both learning and fun to my journey, helping me gain practical skills while making memories along the way.

Working as a social media management intern has been an invaluable part of my journey. Through this role, I’ve learned to manage deadlines, plan creative content, organize my time, collaborate effectively with my team and communicate clearly, all skills that complement my academic learning. This internship has also taught me how to balance work and studies, while gaining practical experience that is preparing me for a successful future.

Looking back at my journey, I feel truly grateful to be part of such a wonderful institution. From the supportive environment and engaging events to workshops, field visits and professional opportunities, every experience has helped me learn new skills, gain confidence, and grow as a person.

My time at IIMS has helped me grow both academically and personally, shaping me into a capable, responsible and adaptable professional. Every day here has been a chance to learn, contribute, and improve, making my college experience truly special. As I look to the future, I am excited to use these lessons, memories and skills to face new challenges and opportunities confidently.
