BCS AI Students Enhance Git & GitHub Skills

IIMS College organized an industry-focused session on “Git and GitHub for AI Projects: Master Version Control, Collaboration and Portfolio Building for AI Development” for BCS (Jan. 2025 Intake) – Artificial Intelligence students. The session was conducted by Mr. Jeevan Pandey, Engineering Manager at Techaxis Pvt. Ltd., providing students with practical knowledge of one of the most essential tools used in modern software and AI development.

The session focused on the importance of Git and GitHub as industry-standard platforms for version control, collaborative software development, and project management. Students were introduced to the core concepts of version control, including repository creation, branching, committing changes, merging code, resolving conflicts, and maintaining project history. They also learned how GitHub enables developers to collaborate effectively on shared projects while ensuring code quality and efficient workflow management.

 

Beyond the technical aspects, Mr. Pandey emphasized the significance of maintaining a professional GitHub portfolio for career growth in the field of Artificial Intelligence. Students gained valuable insights into organizing repositories, documenting projects, showcasing technical competencies, and demonstrating their practical experience to recruiters and employers. The session also highlighted how a well-structured GitHub profile can strengthen internship and employment opportunities in today’s competitive technology landscape.

Drawing from his professional experience, Mr. Pandey shared real-world examples of how Git and GitHub are integrated into software engineering and AI development teams. His industry perspectives helped students understand collaborative development practices, agile workflows, and the importance of using version control systems throughout the software development lifecycle.
