IIMS College organized a barista-focused session for its BIHM students, giving them the opportunity to explore coffee from both a theoretical and practical perspective.
The session was led by Mr. Aashir Manandhar, Certified Barista Trainer, who introduced students to the fundamentals of coffee and the role of a barista within the hospitality industry. Students explored key concepts related to coffee preparation, barista techniques and the practices involved in delivering a quality coffee experience.
The session began with classroom-based discussions and theoretical insights, helping students build an understanding of coffee and barista practices. Students then continued their experience at Taylor’s Café, where they had the opportunity to observe demonstrations and take part in hands-on activities related to coffee preparation.
Moving from classroom concepts to practical experience allowed students to gain a broader understanding of the barista profession. The interaction with an industry professional also provided valuable insights into the techniques, attention to detail and professional practices associated with coffee service.
For BIHM students, industry-oriented sessions such as these offer exposure to different areas of hospitality and food and beverage operations. Such experiences complement academic learning while allowing students to explore specific skills and practices relevant to the hospitality industry.
